We had a busy and exciting week in our classroom, filled with learning, creativity, and collaboration! Here’s a quick snapshot of what your child has been working on and some important upcoming dates to note.
This Week in Learning
English Language Arts: We explored what makes a complete sentence, played “Sentence or Not” games, practiced punctuation, and worked on creating strong “super sentences.”
Literacy Stations: Students rotated through reading, writing, and word-work centres, building confidence and independence.
Math: We focused on addition strategies, including “Make 10,” mental math strategies, and explaining our thinking during math talks.
Science: We began learning about energy and sound, watching kid-friendly videos and recording ideas through journal notes.
Social Studies: Students continued working on their projects and had a chance to proudly share their work with their Grade 5 buddies.
Art: We explored complementary colours inspired by Keith Haring.
Community & Well-Being: We learned about Black History Month. Through our Totes About Me activity, we explored our students’ ancestry and family connections. This led us on a meaningful journey across the world to Canada, China, Lebanon, and Pakistan, helping students celebrate diversity and learn more about one another.
