Dear Grade 2 Families,
We have wrapped up our final week together, I want to take a moment to reflect on what a wonderful year it has been. This week was filled with learning, laughter, celebration, and special memories as we enjoyed our last days together as a class.
π Language Arts
This week, students:
- π€ Reflected on The Wild Robot through visual journal activities
- π Wrote heartfelt summer letters
- π¬ Enjoyed watching The Wild Robot and Zootopia as a class while making connections to the stories we have shared throughout the year
- π Continued reading, writing, and reflecting together
It was wonderful to see students celebrate how much they have grown as readers, writers, and thinkers.
π Math – Measurement
Students explored measurement using both non-standard and standard units. They compared lengths, measured classroom objects, and applied their learning through hands-on activities. It was a great way to finish our math learning for Grade 2!
π§ͺ Science – Creative Creations
Our young scientists used plasticine to create zoo animals, applying everything they learned during our Materials and Objects unit and zoo enclosure project. Their creativity and attention to detail were amazing!
π¨π¦ About Me Bin – Canada
This week, our About Me Bin returned to Canada. It felt especially meaningful to end our journey where it began. Throughout the year, our students travelled the world through the stories, traditions, foods, languages, and cultures shared by our classroom families. Ending with Canada was a wonderful reminder that while our roots may begin in many different places, together we created one caring and inclusive classroom community in Canada. ❤️
π³ Special End-of-Year Memories
This week also included many memorable experiences:
- πΆ Community Walk to VIVO Park
- π School-wide Play Day
- π Visiting Grade 3 to get a glimpse of what next year may be like
- π¬ Movie Day
- π§Ή Classroom clean-up and organizing
- π Celebrating a fantastic year together
These special moments gave us time to reflect, laugh together, and celebrate all we have accomplished. It was also exciting for students to visit Grade 3 and begin imagining the adventures that await them next year.
π A Heartfelt Thank You
As this school year comes to an end, I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your partnership, encouragement, and support throughout the year. It has truly been a privilege to teach your children.
Thank you for trusting me with such kind, curious, creative, and resilient young learners. They have made me smile every day, challenged me to become a better teacher, and filled our classroom with laughter, kindness, and joy. Watching their confidence grow and celebrating each of their successes has been one of the greatest rewards of this year.
Thank you as well for everything you have done behind the scenes—supporting learning at home, volunteering your time, sending supplies, attending school events, reading with your children, and raising such wonderful children. Your partnership has made all the difference.
I wish each of you a summer filled with rest, adventure, laughter, and special time together as a family. To my amazing future Grade 3 students: keep reading, keep asking questions, keep being kind, keep advocating for yourself, and never stop being curious about the world around you.
Have a safe, relaxing, and joyful summer. It has been an absolute pleasure being your child's teacher.
With gratitude,
Ms. Oshokoya ❤️
