π Grade 2 Weekly Classroom Update π
Dear Grade 2 Families,
We had another exciting and creative week of learning in Grade 2! Students explored new concepts across subjects and continued to build their confidence in sharing their ideas.
π Language Arts – Conjunctions & Research
In Language Arts, students learned about conjunctions (joining words like and, but, so) through games and interactive activities.
We also began frog research, where students:
- π§ Learned what Research means
- ✏️ Used the TIDE Rocket and Jot Notes to organize ideas
- π€ Participated in discussions and vocabulary games
Students are beginning to build early research and note-taking skills in a fun and engaging way!
π’ Math – Double-Digit Subtraction
In Math, we continued working on double-digit subtraction (without regrouping) using a number line.
We also practiced:
- π Esti-Mysteries to strengthen estimation
- π§ Explaining our thinking clearly
Students are becoming more confident using strategies to solve problems step-by-step.
π Social Studies – Culture, Heritage & Earth Day
This week, students explored:
- π Earth Day learning and art, focusing on caring for our planet
- 𦬠Métis heritage, learning about culture, history, and identity
These lessons help students build respect, understanding, and connection to the world around them.
π¨ Art – Creative Expression
Students created:
- π¨ Earth Day art projects
- π‘ MΓ©tis-inspired dot art
Their creativity and attention to detail really shone through!
π Totes About Me
Our Totes About Me journey continues! This week, our learning led us to the Philippines.
Students explored:
- Cultural traditions
- Family heritage
- Connections within our classroom community
This continues to be a meaningful way for students to learn about each other and celebrate diversity.
